What is patina in TO TINTOR jewelry?

Patina is a natural, darkened layer that forms on the surface of sterling silver due to a process called oxidation. At TO TINTOR, we intentionally use this technique on certain pieces to add depth, character, and a unique finish to the jewelry

How is the oxidation process done?

Our oxidation process is carefully controlled to ensure a rich, darkened effect that enhances the beauty of the natural silver. Each piece undergoes a unique treatment that brings out subtle contrasts and highlights in the metal.

Will the patina wear off over time?

Yes, patina is not permanent and may wear off gradually with regular use, especially on areas that are frequently touched. This creates a natural, aged look, which many wearers appreciate as it gives the piece a unique character over time.

How can I preserve the patina on my jewelry?

To keep the patina looking its best, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, water, and abrasive materials. Store your jewelry in a dry place, ideally in a jewelry box or pouch, to protect the finish when not in use.

Does the oxidation process affect the durability of the jewelry?

Not at all. Oxidation only affects the surface layer and does not weaken or harm the structure of the silver. It’s purely aesthetic and adds a beautiful, rustic character to the piece.

In what currency will I be charged?

All payments will be effected in Serbian currency – dinar (RSD).

The amount your credit card account will be charged for is obtained through the conversion of the price in Euro into Serbian dinar according to the current exchange rate of the Serbian National Bank.

When charging your credit card, the same amount is converted into your local currency according to the exchange rate of credit card associations.

As a result of this conversion, there is a possibility of a slight difference from the original price stated on our website.

How can I check the current exchange rate for RSD?

You can check the exchange rate for Serbian Dinars (RSD) through your bank or online currency converters to see how the RSD rate applies to your currency.

How can I preserve the patina and oxidized finish?

To maintain the darkened patina or oxidized finish, avoid rubbing the surface excessively. Store your jewelry in a dry place and away from direct sunlight. Over time, the patina may naturally lighten, giving the piece a unique character.

Can I use silver polish on my jewelry?

If your piece has an oxidized finish, avoid using silver polish, as it can remove the darkened look. For other silver pieces, use a silver polishing cloth gently to restore shine without affecting any intricate detailing.

What should I do if my jewelry gets scratched?

Minor scratches can often be buffed out by a professional jeweler. For more significant scratches or wear, feel free to contact us, and we can recommend the best options for refreshing your piece.

Does TO TINTOR jewelry come with any quality marks or guarantees?

All TO TINTOR jewelry pieces feature official state quality marks of origin, as well as our unique manufacturer’s mark. These marks certify the authenticity and quality of our materials, providing assurance that each piece meets high standards and is crafted with genuine care and precision.
